The 40th annual Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition Application deadline February 1, 2017 by recording Semifinals April 1, 2017, New York City Finals Concert April 8, 2017 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Competition details and application: www.solocomp.org In 1977 the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $21,000 in cash prizes awarded!

Opera Viva! offers young singers, collaborative pianists and stage directors the opportunity to experience the musical and cultural riches of Italian opera through study and performance each summer in Verona, Italy. Students immerse themselves in a three-week comprehensive seminar with classroom and private instruction by a world-class faculty of voice teachers, vocal coaches, stage directors and career coaches. Opera Viva! is accepting applications for our 2017 sessions in Verona. Session I dates are June 18-July 9, 2017. Session II dates are July 16-August 6, 2017. The 20th Lotte Lenya Competition is fast approaching, and it promises to be the competition's biggest year yet! Prize amounts have been increased to $20,000 for 1st Prize, $15,000 for 2nd Prize, and $10,000 for 3rd Prize. Total prizes will exceed $75,000. Apply now for the EUROPEAN MUSIC ACADEMY PRAGUE - TEPLICE. From July 29th till August 11th 2017, participants will work individually with top lecturers and a professional symphonic orchestra in the heart of Europe! Our programme is focused on the interpretation of Mozart´s Le nozze di Figaro, Smetana´s The Bartered Bride, and a variety of operatic excerpts. The first stage of the masterclass will take place at the Music Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague. The mission is to provide affordable training to developing singers while providing accessible and high quality performances to our community. At Chicago Summer Opera we offer training in role preparation, vocal technique, dramatic preparation, audition technique, stage movement and diction. This year, in addition to the main stage shows, the program will offer a weekly staged scenes program with piano. The session culminates with two concert/semi-staged performances with orchestra at the end of each session.
