Deadline February 28: Greve Opera Academy 2017!

Connecticut Lyric Opera is accepting applications for the 3rd season of their summer program in Italy, the Greve Opera Academy. Auditions will be held on March 3 in NYC; links to recordings may be submitted, but live auditions are strongly encouraged. This 4 week program running from June 12 - July 8 is designed for emerging professional artists and university level singers providing the opportunity to perform in two fully staged productions with orchestra - TOSCA and COSI FAN TUTTE. Additional instruction in Italian, professional development, acting and stagecraft are included along with an international vocal competition, while living in Greve-in-Chianti in the heart of Tuscany provides its own rewarding experiences.

ONLY ONE WEEK UNTIL THE FINAL DEADLINE! Don’t miss out!! The JTVA Vocal Competition welcomes exceptional singing in genres from opera, oratorio and art songs, to jazz, musical theater and cabaret standards. There are no specific age, education or residency requirements. Two levels of competition based on vocal experience are offered and ALL finalists receive a cash award. Awards total $20,000, as well as soloist performance opportunities with both the Oakland Symphony and the Masterworks Chorale in San Mateo. Applications will be accepted only until February 10, 2017.

Deadline February 15! Boston Conservatory Opera Intensive at Valencia 2017

For three weeks this summer, aspiring young opera singers from around the world will come together to participate in a unique program that offers talented singers the opportunity to hone their technical skills with world-class faculty, gain valuable performance experience in a variety of settings, and learn how to build and maintain a career in opera. One of the unique features of the program is that participants have access to Berklee's state-of-the-art recording studios. Each participant will be able to record a limited number of arias/songs for their use in applications for graduate schools or young artist programs. Berklee’s engineers will master the recordings, and the selections will be coached and accompanied by our music staff. Deadline to Apply - February 15th!

Do you want voice training at the highest level in one of the world’s foremost temples of opera? The La Scala Academy of Lyric Opera is the choice for you! The program (tuition free!) hones your interpretation of opera and chamber repertoire through coaching in vocal scores, vocal technique and stage presence, body language techniques and physical expression under the guidance of artists of the caliber of Luciana D’Intino, Renato Bruson, Luciana Serra, Eva Mei and Gregory Kunde, to name a few. Concerts with orchestra or piano, opera productions at La Scala and tours in Italy and abroad are planned. This year in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, InterHarmony International Music Festival announces its first Outstanding Guest Vocalist, world-class mezzo soprano Christa Mayer, who will be giving an open Vocal Master Class. A native of Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Mayer has been an ensemble member of the Saxon State Opera in Dresden since 2001, where her interpretation of Erda in Das Rheingold and Siegfried brought her international recognition. Upcoming engagements include Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde, Mary in The Flying Dutchmen at the Bayreuth Festival.
