The 9th annual German vocal competition seeks to offer support to rising professional singers. This year the finalists will sing one song in their native language along with two contrasting German selections.   1st Prize - $5,000; 2nd Prize - $4,000; 3rd Prize - $3,000; Finalist Awards - $2,000; Audience Favorite - $500. DEADLINE APPROACHING! Do you feel like you spend more time preparing to perform than actually performing? At Opera Colorado, we believe the key to growing in your artistry is experience and our Artist in Residence Program is designed to provide you with as many performance opportunities as possible. Each member of the program has the incredible opportunity to perform and cover roles with one of the premier opera companies in the U.S. and share opera with diverse communities. Artists receive individual coaching with world-class teacher, coaches, conductors, and directors to further their growth. Housing in beautiful Denver, CO is provided, and competitive pay gives each Artist in Residence the opportunity to enjoy Colorado to the fullest. 

Schmidt Vocal Arts is excited to once again offer an online competition for undergraduate singers: The Schmidt Vocal Competition Undergraduate Awards. This online competition will be held in Dec. 2023-Feb. 2024, culminating in an online Q&A and live-streamed awards ceremony on Feb. 10, 2024.

The application deadlines vary by audition location: October 31 (Dallas and Chicago auditions), November 7 (Virtual auditions); November 10 (New York City auditions).  Our season this year offers three imaginative productions with orchestra, including Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld), Verdi's Rigoletto and Sondheim's Into the Woods at our outdoor home, the stunning Blow-Me-Down Farm on the banks of the Connecticut River. These productions feature our Resident Artists in all roles whenever possible.  We look forward to hearing you in an audition for the coming season!

Nashville Opera is accepting applications for the 2025 Mary Ragland Emerging Artists.  Four singers and one pianist will be selected for this paid 12-week opportunity.  Emerging Artists will perform roles in the winter mainstage production of Gilbert & Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore, be featured soloists at the company's black-tie gala, headline the 2025 Nashville Opera On Tour education program, and cover roles in the season's closing production, Lucia di Lammermoor. Emerging artists will also receive weekly coaching sessions and get the chance to work with an esteemed clinician for a featured masterclass, all included in the program.

There’s still time to enter! Deadline Nov. 10: Now in its 10th year, participants and winners of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition have gone to enjoy successful careers in opera and musical theatre. It’s a chance to sing for some of the leading casting and stage directors, win cash prizes, and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Eight finalists will be chosen from virtual auditions, and invited to perform at the “Vibrations” National Winners Concert on February 19, 2024 in Jackson, MS. Final prizes and placements will be announced at the concert. Monetary prizes for First Place are $1,200, Second Place $900. Housing and travel to and from Jackson covered by Opera Mississippi. Winners are also considered for roles in upcoming Opera Mississippi productions.

For 44 seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. This includes the complete Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire, as well as the recognized treasures from the Viennese, French, Hungarian, German, and American repertoire. The 36 performing artists who make up the vocal ensemble are chosen for their abilities to perform and work at the highest level in all disciplines demanded by the company’s specialized repertoire.  Our 2024 audition process includes BOTH in-person and virtual audition opportunities.  The application deadline for both options is October 22nd.

Nuova Vocal Arts presents a five-week intensive program for those who wish to focus on further developing technique while also enhancing their performance skills. The program provides instruction in Creative Process (focused on developing imagination and improvisation skills), Acting, Movement, Alexander Technique, Clown, Lyric Diction, Text and Vocal Interpretation taught by distinguished faculty who are experts in their field. Our guest teachers, who are internationally recognized artists, give mini-master classes, public forum masterclasses, private voice lessons and professional development seminars. Utah Opera's Resident Artist Program -- Only two weeks left to apply! Take advantage of our outstanding performance and training opportunities in one of the most spectacular settings in North America! Utah Opera's Resident Artist Program for singers and pianists provides an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months developing professional skills through mainstage performances with Utah Opera and Utah Symphony, individualized training, workshops, and masterclass sessions.
