The Saengerbund Awards are given each year to young singers who have demonstrated the potential for a professional performing career.  All entries are evaluated by professional casting directors, coaches, and conductors from opera companies around the US and in Germany.  The quality of the video submissions is of high importance in the process, and the singer's German diction is a major component of the evaluation.  Creative selections are appreciated, and they do help the applicants stand out from the preliminary pool of entries.  German operetta is a particularly good source for young singers.  The Lied should come from the standard repertoire.  Either selection can be a German translation.  Questions:  germansinging2026@gmail.com

Schmidt Vocal Arts is excited to once again offer an online competition for undergraduate singers: The Schmidt Vocal Competition Undergraduate Awards. This online competition will be held in Dec. 2025-Feb. 2026, culminating in a live-streamed awards ceremony on Feb. 14, 2026. Applications open Nov. 3! UPPER DIVISION: Four (4) Winners - $5,000 each. Auditions are underway for our 2026 season. Shows confirmed for the season are La Cenerentola, The Ballad of Baby Doe, and Fiddler on the Roof. Remaining auditions will be held in Dallas, New York City, Atlanta and virtually November.  We have been preparing resident artists for the professional world of opera since 1982.  Soprano Jordan Lee Gilbert (seen here) as Susanna in Act 3 of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (Resident Artist 2025). Audition Applications for the 2026 Festival Season with the Ohio Light Opera are due Sunday, October 26th. For 47 seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. Our recently announced 2026 season includes: My Fair Lady (Lerner and Lowe, 1956), Damn Yankees (Adler and Ross, 1955), The Boys from Syracuse (Rodgers and Hart, 1938), The Merry Widow (Franz Lehár, 1905), Yeomen of the Guard (Gilbert and Sullivan, 1888), The Red Mill (Victor Herbert, 1906)). Auditions are available either in-person or virtually and OLO offers both professional and young artist contracts.  All offers are paid and include housing for the duration of the contract.

Solti-Peretti Repetiteur Course: Pianists who are interested in developing their skills as opera répétiteurs/coaches are invited to apply for the Georg Solti Accademia's 2026 Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course, which takes place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy.
