The Pasadena Vocal Competition: Where Careers Begin

The Pasadena Vocal Competition is more than a competition. It is a launchpad. Since 2016, PVC has been investing in the next generation of opera's brightest voices, and the results speak for themselves. Our alumni have gone on to perform at the Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera, as well as on international stages worldwide.

Every year, PVC awards over $20,000 in cash prizes, including a $10,000 first prize. Our panel of judges includes seasoned professionals from the opera world, and our Finals Concert is free and open to the public, giving singers the rare opportunity to perform for a warm, invested audience of opera lovers and industry professionals alike.

This year, for the first time ever, PVC is going bicoastal. We are holding semifinals on both the East and West Coasts, making it easier than ever for talented singers across the country to compete.
