Deadline February 1: Perform a full-role with orchestra! Miami Music Festival 2016

Deadline 3 days away! Spend the summer in Miami performing a full-role with orchestra! Applications for MMF are now open, casting six full-scale mainstage productions: La bohème, Gianni Schicchi, The Magic Flute, L'enfant et les sortilèges, Turn of the Screw and The Crucible. Singers work with renowned faculty, conductors, directors, coaches, and voice teachers from the world's leading institutions including the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National, Houston Grand, Glimmerglass, Florida Grand, the Bolshoi, and the Royal Philharmonic, among others. Singers will work with guest teaching artists Christine Goerke (Metropolitan Opera soprano) Alan Held (internationally famed bass-baritone) and participate in our Young Artist Audition Workshops with Bradley Moore.

For singers and pianists in residence in Florence, Italy: the opportunity to immerse oneself in the study of Bel Canto, a style of singing and playing rich in vocal and orchestral traditions handed down from generation to generation. Semifinals 4/2/16, NYC, Finals 4/9/16 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. www.solocomp.org In 1977 the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $21,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years. Open to all singers who have not made an oratorio debut in a major hall in NYC, ie: Carnegie Hall or Avery Fisher Hall.

$60,000 in prizes: The Lotte Lenya Competition 2016

Judges for the 2016 Lotte Lenya Competition have just been announced: Victoria Clark and Jeanine Tesori to judge the Semifinals. Teresa Stratas, Theodore S. Chapin, and Andy Einhorn to judge the Finals. The Lotte Lenya Competition is a unique international theater singing contest that emphasizes wide-ranging repertoire and the acting of songs and arias within a dramatic context. The competition recognizes talented young singer/actors who are dramatically and musically convincing in repertoire ranging from opera/operetta to contemporary Broadway scores, including the works of Kurt Weill. Open to singer/actors of all nationalities, ages 19–32 (born after December 31, 1983 and before January 1, 1997). Total prize purse exceeds $60,000.

Apply now to become a 2016 Seagle Music Colony young artist. The deadline to request a live audition is two weeks prior to the requested audition date, and the final deadline for applications with recorded materials in lieu of a live audition is Friday, Feb. 1, 2016. The Seagle Music Colony 101st anniversary 2016 season features the world premiere of ROSCOE by Evan Mack as well as L’ELISIR D’AMORE, THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, and THE MUSIC MAN. Program dates are June 20-August 21, 2016.
