Applications closing soon! Applications are closing soon for the Cascais Opera International Vocal Competition, for opera singers aged 18 to 32. In addition to international performance opportunities, participants stand to win from a substantial €30.000 prize pool. The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hennings-Fischer Foundation are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 23rd annual Young Artist Competition.  This prestigious competition is open to all instrumentalists (except piano) and all vocalists age 30 or under as of February 24, 2024.  Grand prize winners will appear with the Burbank Philharmonic in a regular season concert and receive a cash prize of $1,000 at the time of performance.  Recent past winners and finalists include sopranos Angela Meade and Julie Adams and violinists Nigel Armstrong and Aubree Oliverson.

Canto Vocal Programs is now receiving applications for Summer 2024! Canto is returning to northern Virginia for a four week program preparing and performing a fully staged production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Italian with a youth orchestra. The show will be double cast, performances on August 3 and 4. Joining Canto's guest faculty this year will be Ken Weiss from Washington National Opera, and WNO Cafritz young artist program.  We are thrilled to welcome reknowned mezzo Jamie Barton, who will offer two masterclasses concluding with a Q&A. Music, dramatic and language coachings, masterclasses,diction and acting classes will be offered through out the program.  Special classes will be offered addressing how to achieve peak performance.

An intensive course providing the opportunity for a small group of vocal artists and répétiteurs performing at conservatoire level or beyond to work with leading professionals from the opera industry, taking place amidst the Victorian splendour of the Edinburgh Society of Musicians, Scotland in the heart of Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from 1st - 7th July 2024. Applications close next Monday for Mascarade Opera, an opera training and performance programme at the Mascarade Opera Foundation in Florence for exceptionally talented young singers and répétiteurs. Training provision is carefully structured around performance opportunities; through the programme's collaboration with Teatro La Fenice in Venice and other major operatic houses across Europe, artists enjoy the unique prospect of translating what they have learnt into professional practice on stage. Places on the programme are entirely funded with artists receiving tuition, maintenance and accommodation grants equivalent to entry-level salaried positions in the industry.
