The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” announces vacancies for SOPRANO and ALTO VOCALISTS with the Army’s premier vocal ensemble, The United States Army Chorus. From its inception in 1956 to the present, The U.S. Army Chorus has established and maintained a reputation of musical excellence. Beyond the traditional military music and patriotic standards, Army Chorus repertoire covers a broad spectrum of genres to include pop, Broadway, folk, and classical music. Main duties include rehearsals and performances with The U.S. Army Chorus as ensemble member and soloist, as well as opportunities to be featured with the Concert Band, Orchestra, Strolling Strings, and other ensembles of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own”.

The Merola Opera Program under the artistic leadership of the San Francisco Opera Center announces 2024 opportunities for singers, pianists, and directors. In addition to multiple performance opportunities, participants receive daily individual coaching in their discipline, training in diction, acting, movement, financial planning, leadership coaching, mental health, physical wellness, and branding from leading professionals in the opera field, as well as public master classes with internationally renowned artists. Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces Third Annual National Competition! SVA’s second annual High School Nationals will take place from May 31-June 2, 2024 in partnership with Sarasota Opera. Competitors will sing on the stage of the William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre and compete for generous cash awards: First Place ($10,000), Second Place ($7,500), Third Place ($5,000), and Finalist ($650). Sullivan Award winners receive $10,000 prizes and are eligible for grants to learn new roles, a unique aspect of the Foundation’s commitment to early career artists. More than 1,000 singers have earned Sullivan funding since 1957. Winners call the support “life-changing.” 2023 auditions will be held in New York on October 29 and 30. Deadline approaching: Sarasota Opera Apprentice Program. Join a prestigious and highly professional apprentice artists program! The company provides many performing opportunities throughout its fall and winter seasons. The training aspect of the program focuses on encouraging singers to give impassioned performances through vocal expression with an understanding of the meaning of the text, the poetry, and the music. In private coachings and classes, acting is approached through an efficiency of movement that brings out the meaning of the work rather than obscuring it. The VOCAL IMMERSION PROGRAM at CASTLETON (ViP) is a 2-week performing arts mentoring program for a select group of emerging professional artists. World-renowned singers Michelle DeYoung, Paul Groves, actress Dietlinde Turban Maazel, are joined by collaborative pianists, world percussion artist Tom Teasley, and guest faculty Susan Graham, Bryn Terfel, and Stephen Wadsworth.
