The Art Song Preservation Society turns 10! To help commemorate this special year, we have assembled a stellar list of guest artists to present our masterclasses. There will be 10 masterclasses (1 marking each incredible year we've been around!). This year, we also present the competitive Mary Trueman Art Song Vocal Competition. The finals will be held in a recital format before the public on Saturday, 5/30/20 at 1pm in Greenfield Auditorium at The Manhattan School of Music. This year's festival will also feature the incredible talents of Raehann Bryce-Davis (mezzo) and internationally established pianist Mark Markham in a recital celebrating our mission and the work we've been doing now for a decade. One of the major events, Annual Vocal Competition, will be hosted by The Source OC in Orange County, CA. Ten (10) aspiring and emerging finalists will compete with an orchestra. The main goal of the competition is to find exceptional musicians and allow them to showcase their unique talents. For three weeks this summer, aspiring young opera singers from around the world will come together at the Valencia campus to participate in the Boston Conservatory Opera Intensive at Valencia. Sponsored by Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Berklee College of Music's campus in Valencia, this unique program offers talented singers the opportunity to hone their technical skills with world-class faculty, gain valuable performance experience in a variety of settings, learn how to build and maintain a career in opera, and connect with industry professionals.
Corso d'Opera offers a unique opportunity for young singers to grow and increase skills on all points of view. The residency will be held in one of most astonishing places of Tuscany, Cortona, and will be led by great and renowned artists such as Fernando Cordeiro Opa- Leonardo De Lisi- Hugo De Ana - Roberto Abbado – Alessandro Corbelli and excellent professionals of several sectors, such as bioenergetics, body training and self-managing. Since 2014 Ensemble OrQuesta have run high-quality Opera Academies four times a year in the UK. Under the guidance of multi-skilled professionals led by Marcio da Silva and Stephanie Gurga, young singers benefit from rigorous tuition and training with coaching in technique, language, style, stagecraft, and movement. The programme culminates in two fully staged public performances accompanied by a professional ensemble. Several productions starring EO alumni have grown from these academies, receiving critical acclaim in fringe venues such as the Grimeborn Opera Festival, Arcola Theatre, and The Cockpit. Welcome to the International Opera Masterclass in the Czech Republic! The masterclass will be held in Ceske Budejovice from the 10th to the 17th of July of 2020. The curriculum is focused on improving vocal techniques featured in classical and romantic styles. Participants will work with leading opera singers from a diverse set of prestigious operas ranging from the National Theatre in Prague, the Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg to the New York Metropolitan Opera. All rehearsals and the final concert with the professional orchestra will be video recorded. Operas by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Dvorak, and Smetana are listed in the repertoire. More here.
