The next summer course of the INTERNATIONAL BELCANTO ACADEMY will take place in Theater Het Lichtruim in Bilthoven and will last three weeks. In addition to intensive vocal and scenic training, the program consists of rehearsals for the performance of DON GIOVANNI by W.A. Mozart. Because we will be working with two casts, the opera will be performed twice. We prefer to work with singers who not only sing well but are also interested in creating a convincing character. The theater expects a fully professional production. The course is scheduled in the period from 4 to 25 August 2024. Now in its 10th year, participants and winners of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition have gone on to enjoy successful careers in opera and musical theatre. It’s a chance to sing for some of the leading casting and stage directors, win cash prizes, and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Eight finalists are chosen from virtual auditions, and invited to perform at the “Vibrations” National Winners Concert on February 19, 2024 in Jackson, MS. Final prizes and placements will be announced at the concert. Monetary prizes for First Place are $1,200, Second Place $900. Housing and travel to and from Jackson covered by Opera Mississippi. A singing competition unlike any other, in which acting counts as much as vocal talent. The Lotte Lenya Competition welcomes talented singer/actors to show they can "do it all" by presenting four contrasting theatrical songs and arias. More than $120,000 will be distributed in prizes throughout the 2024 Competition, including the top prize of $25,000. Additionally, individual prizes will be awarded after each of the preliminary ($750), semifinal ($1250), and final rounds (between $3,000 and $25,000). The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” announces vacancies for SOPRANO and ALTO VOCALISTS with the Army’s premier vocal ensemble, The United States Army Chorus. From its inception in 1956 to the present, The U.S. Army Chorus has established and maintained a reputation of musical excellence. Beyond the traditional military music and patriotic standards, Army Chorus repertoire covers a broad spectrum of genres to include pop, Broadway, folk, and classical music. Main duties include rehearsals and performances with The U.S. Army Chorus as ensemble member and soloist, as well as opportunities to be featured with the Concert Band, Orchestra, Strolling Strings, and other ensembles of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own”.
