Opera Saratoga 2020: apply now!

Applications are now open for Opera Saratoga's 2020 Young Artist Program. The 2020 Summer Festival will include 3 new productions: MADAMA BUTTERFLY (Puccini/Giacosa - Director: Izumi Ashizawa; Conductor: Dean Williamson), THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Gilbert & Sullivan - Director: Eve Summer; Conductor: Brian DeMaris), and SKY ON SWINGS (Beecher/Moscovitch - Director: Lawrence Edelson; Conductor: Emily Senturia). Principal, supporting and cover role assignments are available for singers, along with opportunities for pianists/coaches, conductors and directors. Artists also receive professional development opportunities throughout the summer, and will be featured on a variety of concerts and master classes.

2019 Sullivan Foundation Auditions: No fee to apply!

The Sullivan Foundation seeks exceptionally talented young opera singers who are still taking early steps but show promise for significant careers. Winners receive initial prizes and then are eligible for additional role preparation grants in future years, a unique feature of the Foundation's support. 2019 auditions will be held in New York on November 10 and 11. Applications to audition are due September 10.

Chautauqua Opera Company 2020: Applications now open!

Chautauqua Opera Company is now accepting applications for its 2020 Young Artist Program. 2020 mainstage repertoire will include Puccini’s Tosca, directed by Sarah Ina Meyers, Thumbprint, by Kamala Sankaram and Susan Yankowitz, directed by Omer Ben Seadia, and The Mother of Us All by Virgil Thomson and Gertrude Stein, directed by Keturah Stickann. Chautauqua Opera Young Artists sing and/or cover leading and supporting roles in mainstage productions alongside leading professionals in the field, and are featured in over 30 unique events each season, including concerts with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, recitals, community engagement events, and more! NO FEE TO APPLY. Sarasota Opera announces September 2019 auditions for its Apprentice Artists Program January 4 - March 22, 2020. Opportunity listing and application are now available on YAP Tracker. September auditions take place in New York, Chicago, and Sarasota. Mainstage operas are Puccini’s La bohème, Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet, Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, and Catalani’s La Wally (all in original languages). Victor DeRenzi is artistic director/principal conductor; Jesse Martins is chorus master/program and music director of the Apprentice Artists. These are paid positions. The 2019 Loyola Dramatic Voice Symposium: Apply by September 1!

The Loyola Dramatic Voice Symposium brings together world-renowned artists and teachers in the field of opera to present master classes and lectures for young dramatic singers and for teachers of voice. Full registration includes three days of professional development culminating in a final performance of the guest artists. 2019 Artists include Greer Grimsley, Luretta Bybee, Michael Borowitz, Clifton Forbis, Gordon Hawkins, and more. New this year! Students who audition to participate in a masterclass may be eligible for a full refund of their registration costs. Scholarships are provided by the International Performing Arts Institute and its director, Dr. Bruce Earnest. Audition materials due September 1, 2019.

Perform in Paradise: Hawaii Opera Theatre's 2019-20 season!

Hawaii Opera Theatre is currently accepting applications for our 2019-20 season. Spend a few months in paradise as you refine your craft working with some of the best opera professionals in the business. Program dates are September 6 to December 6, 2019 or February 1 to May 15, 2020. Great for rising young professionals, singers have an opportunity to perform in supporting roles and cover leading roles in our mainstage productions. They also receive regular coachings from our music staff and guest clinicians, and take part in community engagement concerts, education programs, and school tours throughout the state.
