The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) announces an opening for a one-year position as Assistant Conductor. The successful candidate will assist Robert Spano, FWSO Music Director and serve as cover conductor for the Music Director, Pops conductors, and guest conductors for all orchestra services. The Assistant Conductor will lead education, family, and community concerts in addition to other conducting and administrative duties as specified by the Music Director and Artistic Operations department. 

USUO proudly supports Resident Artist singers and pianists with an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months from September to May developing professional skills through mainstage performances with USUO, expert coachings, workshops, and masterclass sessions.  The USUO Resident Artists are the primary, in-person ambassadors for opera and artistry in many of our local communities, but most particularly among Utah’s K-12 schools.  Each individual should expect to share their talent with USUO’s staff, board, and donors as well as Utah’s most diverse audiences as they travel around our beautiful state.

The Rochester International Vocal Competition is a fully-virtual and world-renowned opportunity for young artists helping to launch careers. With top level judges and generous prize categories, RIVC attracts hundreds of solo vocalists on the cusp of international careers from all over the globe. Singers from all over the world will be heard by world-class judges Maj. Daniel Wolfsbauer and Evans Mirageas for cash prizes and opportunities for solo performances. Past winners have gone on to perform across the globe, from the Metropolitan Opera to Europe and beyond. Grand Prize: $1500. Second Prize: $1000. Third Prize: $500. The Aix Festival is now accepting applications for the 2026 Vocal Residency, which will take place from 22 June to 9 July 2026 in Aix-en-Provence. Don't hesitate to apply online now until midnight on 12 October.  For over 25 years, the Académie du Festival d'Aix has been committed to nurturing a new generation of artists, by creating inspiring residencies that combine tradition and innovation. Lyric art, the genesis of opera, is one of its special features. The Académie creates a space for international artists to develop their careers, through encounters with recognized voice masters.  The Voice residency 2026 pursues the objectives of its predecessors, reinforcing the role of musical dramaturgy and vocal coaching in the profession of singers and pianists. 

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park’s 2nd Annual National Oratorio Competition is now accepting applications!  The Competition is open to unmanaged American singers with an interest in oratorio repertoire. During the week of February 9, 2026, eight amazing finalists will be invited to participate in coaching sessions, masterclasses, and rehearsals that will be open to the public as part of the 91st Annual Bach Festival in Winter Park, FL. The Competition final concert with full orchestra will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Knowles Memorial Chapel on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Festival Napa Valley's Manetti Shrem Opera Program is a tuition-free intensive opera training program offering advanced study and performance opportunities for a small number of highly gifted and advanced vocalists and pianists in the idyllic setting of Napa Valley. The program includes for all participants: —Performances with orchestra and possible roles, covers, or chorus in a Jake Heggie World Premiere —Mentorship, coachings, masterclasses, acting training —Career/casting consults and auditions —Pianists: lessons, masterclasses, coachings, staging rehearsals, orchestral piano Tuition: $0. Apply now to the National Opera Association's Carolyn Bailey Argento Vocal Competition, the finals of which will be held in Boston on January 10, 2026.  All selected finalists will receive $400 travel stipends to attend the competition! New repertoire requirement this year: an aria composed since 2000. Over $15,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in two divisions: Scholarship (ages 18-24) and Artist (ages 25-40).
