NOTES on VIDEO RECORDINGS

Prescreening videos may be submitted with live or track accompaniment, piano or orchestra. If you are performing with a track, you are welcome to record with headphones and then edit the voice and piano tracks together. Please do not submit a cappella recordings. Selections should be performed from memory. Videos may be from performances, recitals, or concerts, as long as you can be seen clearly. Videos should show as much of your body as possible so we can clearly see your acting choices.

For tips on creating videos, please use the following links to download Opera America's Recording Resources for Virtual Auditions (https://www.operaamerica.org/industry-resources/2020/202006/recording-resources-for-virtual-auditions/).
If accepted for a second round audition, you will be asked to confirm your audition appointment (virtual or live) within 5 days through YAP Tracker, and submit a $25 audition fee.

Program Information
USUO proudly supports Resident Artist singers and pianists with an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months from September to May developing professional skills through mainstage performances with USUO, expert coachings, workshops, and masterclass sessions.  The USUO Resident Artists are the primary, in-person ambassadors for opera and artistry in many of our local communities, but most particularly among Utah’s K-12 schools.  Each Resident Artist prepares for and performs programs in Utah’s schools during their tenure with USUO, and we therefore expect them to be collaborative, engaging, friendly, and technically proficient individuals.  Each Resident Artist will be dedicated to their own artistic development, want to participate in a cooperative environment, and value their own education as well as that of others.  The Resident Artists will work under the guidance and support of the Opera Education Manager, Principal Coach, and Vice President of Education and Community Engagement.  Each individual should expect to share their talent with USUO’s staff, board, and donors as well as Utah’s most diverse audiences as they travel around our beautiful state.
