The Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition solocomp.org Application deadline February 1, 2022, Fee $30; Late applications by February 15, 2022, Fee $50. Semifinals April 2, 2022, NYC; Finals Concert April 9, 2022 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 1977, the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world, and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $22,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years - must be born after Jan. 1, 1982. Open to singers who are early in their oratorio career.

Resident Artist Program: Michigan Opera Theatre, under the leadership of Wayne Brown, CEO; Yuval Sharon, Artistic Director; and Christine Goerke, Associate Artistic Director, engages artists of national and international stature for stellar performances. The MOT Resident Artist has experience and training, an understanding of dramatic intent, and outstanding musical and vocal talent. While with MOT, through masterclasses and specialized guidance by a team of experts, the Resident Artist will further their career development and may be included in mainstage productions, recital series, and performances throughout the community. Chicago Summer Opera offers training in role preparation, vocal technique, dramatic preparation, audition technique, and stage movement. Each singer either receives a full role or full cover role. Apply to participate in the 11th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (6-11 June 2022) - the biggest singing competition in Poland, organized by Polish National Opera in Warsaw.  Perform in front of the international jury consisting of outstanding artists, directors of leading opera houses (including Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro Real, Canadian Opera Company, Staatsoper Stuttgart, or Opernhaus Zürich) and agents. The 55th International Vocal Competition Opera | Oratorio is held 23 June – 2 July 2022 in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Singers wishing to apply must take part in Preliminary Selections via YouTube or audition live in Amsterdam, Monte-Carlo, Łódź (Poland) or 's-Hertogenbosch. The jury panel consists of Deborah Polaski (soprano), Vesselina Kasarova (mezzo-soprano), Javier Menéndez (Teatro de la Maestranza Seville) and Damià Carbonell Nicolau (Dutch National Opera). More names to be announced. The total prize money amounts to € 38,000. Special prizes for performance of repertoire by Richard Wagner and for young talent under the age of 25. The Finale is held on 2nd July with the South Netherlands Philharmonic conducted by Hartmut Haenchen. Prize money: more than € 15,000 plus engagements. Masterclasses, jury feedback, travel refund possible for finalists, accommodation at host families. All rounds open to the public. Over $5,000 in grants will be awarded in the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston's Vocal Career Grant Competition. Ten finalists will compete live in Houston on January 29, 2022. Every year the GSA Bel Canto summer school in Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany, offers up to twelve young singers a fully-funded, three-week immersion in Italian opera singing, with a focus on language, style and technique in the 19th and early 20th century Italian repertoire. The full immersion in “bel canto” music and the Italian way of life that the Georg Solti Accademia provides gives its students a unique experience, with a lasting impact on their future careers.
