The 55th International Vocal Competition Opera | Oratorio is held 23 June – 2 July 2022 in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Singers wishing to apply must take part in Preliminary Selections via YouTube or audition live in Amsterdam, Monte-Carlo, Łódź (Poland) or 's-Hertogenbosch. The jury panel consists of Deborah Polaski (soprano), Vesselina Kasarova (mezzo-soprano), Javier Menéndez (Teatro de la Maestranza Seville) and Damià Carbonell Nicolau (Dutch National Opera). More names to be announced. The total prize money amounts to € 38,000. Special prizes for performance of repertoire by Richard Wagner and for young talent under the age of 25. The Finale is held on 2nd July with the South Netherlands Philharmonic conducted by Hartmut Haenchen. Prize money: more than € 15,000 plus engagements. Every year the GSA Bel Canto summer school in Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany, offers up to twelve young singers a fully-funded, three-week immersion in Italian opera singing, with a focus on language, style and technique in the 19th and early 20th century Italian repertoire. The full immersion in “bel canto” music and the Italian way of life that the Georg Solti Accademia provides gives its students a unique experience, with a lasting impact on their future careers.
