Now in our 4th season, the Greve Opera Academy is a collaboration between CT Lyric Opera, the CT Virtuosi and the town of Greve in Chianti (Florence). The Academy provides young singers the opportunity to learn from world-class faculty and perform leading roles in fully staged operas with professional orchestra. We focus on providing artistic excellence combined with practical professional experience. The 2018 Academy will feature productions of Aida and Le Nozze di Figaro as well as other concerts throughout Tuscany including Florence, San Gimignano, Greve and elsewhere. In the first 3 seasons, attendees have come from the US, Italy, Canada, China, among others, and many have gone on to perform with CLO in the US in main-stage productions.

The Schmidt Vocal Institute (SVI) nurtures and mentors the development of talented, young singers from 15-18 years old. The curriculum focuses on training singers to have a healthy technique, improved musicianship, and outstanding performance skills. Singers study with the Miami University voice faculty as well as the 2018 guest faculty, including Nathan and Julie Gunn, Sylvia McNair, and Brian Zeger. In a special partnership with Cincinnati Opera, singers see a performance of La Traviata and attend a master class with a Cincinnati Opera Principal Artist. With courses in lyric diction, acting, Alexander Technique, historical performances, and vocal health, the course culminates with two public performances on campus in Oxford, OH.

Now entering its 14th summer of study abroad, Canta in Italia offer singers the unforgettable experience of living and studying in the beautiful Tuscan city of Lucca. Located 45 minutes west of Florence, the city where opera was born, Lucca offers a small town experience with easy access to Italy's major cultural center. Puccini, Boccherini and Catalani were all born in Lucca, known throughout Italy as "the musical city". From June 4 through June 30, students are immersed in Italian language and culture, and stimulated by an intensive course of vocal study and performance. Young artists from top conservatories and schools of music in the United States and abroad are chosen to come together in the heart of Tuscany for an intensive four-week program that combines language and musical study with Italian cultural immersion. Called "the highlight of the summer music scene" by City Newspaper, Finger Lakes Opera is pleased to extend the deadline to apply for our SUMMER-2018 Young Artist Program. The new deadline is January 8, 2018 with auditions being held in NYC on January 12 and Rochester, NY on February 3. Finger Lakes Opera Young Artist training program is intended for singers who demonstrate outstanding potential and who are seeking both training and performance experience.
Performance opportunities include opera scenes program, children’s opera performance, and may include “An Evening of Opera Pops” with FLO Orchestra, and comprimario and study/cover roles in main stage opera.
Each summer the opera program at Brevard Music Center enrolls approximately 30 singers who, together, constitute the Janiec Opera Company. Students receive daily coaching, participate in masterclasses, and rehearse their roles under the close instruction of seasoned professionals in the opera world. All productions utilize professional directors, designers, costumers.
Our 2018 season includes fully-staged productions of Madama Butterfly, La Cenerentola, and Candide. Canto Vocal Programs offers intensive programs in Toulouse (April) and Zagreb (July) offering musical and dramatic coaching, voice lessons, small performance classes and a final gala concert. This coming April 16-28 in Toulouse singers have the opportunity to work with artists from the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Les Maîtres Sonneurs.
