2021 GSA Repetiteur Course

Pianists who are interested in developing their skills as répétiteurs/coaches are invited to apply for our Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course, which takes place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy. The course begins on April 1 (arrival day) and ends on April 10 (departure day), 2021.

For your audition, please complete the following application form. You must include with your application two videos of you playing and singing two contrasting operatic excerpts of no more than 10 minutes in total.

Note: Both excerpts must include three or more characters (For example: Mozart, Le nozze di Figaro, Act II Finale; or Puccini, La Bohème, Act 1 opening etc.).

Selected applicants will be offered a live, online audition for which they should be prepared to sing & play both pieces of repertoire from their pre-screening. Additional tasks will be set and sent to chosen applicants ahead of time.

Please submit two videos, featuring you playing and singing two, contrasting operatic excerpts. Each excerpt must have three or more characters (ie. opening of Puccini's La Boheme, or Act II Finale of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro). Be sure to sing-in the appropriate vocal lines while you are playing. Each excerpt should be approximately 5 minutes in length. Number of selections required: 2.

Letters of Recommendation

Please include two professional letters of recommendation with your application. These letters should be from individuals who can speak to your abilities as a pianist and repetiteur. In addition to discussing your capacity as a repetiteur and collaborative musician, be sure your recommenders discuss your sightreading abilities, as it is imperative that you have excellent sightreading skills for this course. These letters must be from professionals in the opera and/or classical music fields. These could be: university professors, music teachers, vocal coaches, conductors, and other performers or educators that can speak to your abilities as a collaborative pianist and repetiteur. Please note: this company is requiring either a scanned/uploaded letter as part of your application or an emailed letter. They are not using the online recommendation process. If you are using the scanned version, you must upload the letter to your recommender entry on your profile page and submit with your form.
