The Schmidt Vocal Competition Undergraduate Awards: Deadline 11/30!

 

Schmidt Vocal Arts is excited to once again offer an online competition for undergraduate singers: The Schmidt Vocal Competition Undergraduate Awards. This online competition will be held in Dec. 2022-Feb. 2023, culminating in an online master class and live-streamed awards ceremony on Feb. 11, 2023.
 
SVC Undergraduate Awards will feature two divisions: 

UPPER (5-8 semesters of undergraduate vocal study)
4 Winners - $5,000 each, plus Finalists Awards and Encouragement Awards

LOWER (1-4 semesters of undergraduate vocal study)
4 Winners - $3,000 each, plus Finalists Awards and Encouragement Awards

Applications are now open! The application is in 2 parts, but only Part 1 needs to be completed to claim a spot in the competition. Part 2 includes uploading the competition videos, all to be completed by November 30, 2022.

  • Paul Hopper, Associate Artistic Administrator, The Metropolitan Opera
  • Barbara Lynne Jamison, General Director, Kentucky Opera
  • Carrie-Ann Matheson, Artistic Director, San Francisco Opera Center and Merola Opera Program
  • Nicholas Phan, tenor, Co-founder of Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago
  • Nathan Wentworth, Artist Manager, Magnum Opus Artists
