Saengerbund Awards: Applications now open!

The Saengerbund Awards are given each year to young singers who have demonstrated the potential for a professional performing career.  All entries are evaluated by professional casting directors, coaches, and conductors from opera companies around the US and in Germany.  The quality of the video submissions is of high importance in the process, and the singer's German diction is a major component of the evaluation.  Creative selections are appreciated, and they do help the applicants stand out from the preliminary pool of entries.  German operetta is a particularly good source for young singers.  The Lied should come from the standard repertoire.  Either selection can be a German translation.  Questions:  germansinging2026@gmail.com

The Saengerbund Awards began in 2016 as a local event of the Houston Saengerbund, a private charitable foundation. The mission of the Houston Saengerbund is to support German music, language and culture of in city of Houston and beyond.

This year the prizes are as follows:

• 2nd Prize - $4,000
• 3rd Prize - $3,000
• Finalist Awards - $2,000
• Audience Favorite - $500
