Now in our thirteenth year, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar will present La Cenerentola and Die Zauberflöte in multiple performances in our historic mainstage theater, in the heart of Weimar's beautiful Altstadt. Productions are directed by General Director and international bass-baritone Damon Nestor Ploumis, and conducted by Maestro Olaf Storbeck.

Our comprehensive training program is designed for emerging professional singers considering a career in Europe, with a focus on the German theater system.

We offer intensive training in singing, movement, rehearsal process and role study, master classes, individual lessons and stagecraft instruction, as well as daily German language instruction and diction coaching. You will participate in sessions in audition techniques and career management and have the opportunity to audition for German state and private agents. You’ll sing a role in a fully-staged opera and develop the necessary skills to audition and work as a singer in one of the most important spheres of opera – the German-speaking world.

Our faculty consists of European and North American professionals with active careers in leading theaters throughout Germany and across Europe. You’ll benefit from our international faculty’s breadth of experience in workshops in career management, successful audition techniques, résumé building for the German theater system - and you’ll receive a realistic vision of what it takes to be a singer in Germany.

Since the Studio’s founding in 2008, many of our alumni have secured professional engagements in such theaters as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Semper Oper Dresden, Glyndebourne, Staatsoper Wien, and other professional theaters throughout Germany and Europe. In 2017, mezzo-soprano and two-time LOSW alumna Catriona Morison was awarded both the Lied and Main Prize in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
