Prepare for the next step in your career.

Now in our twentieth year, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar will present Le nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte in multiple performances in our historic mainstage theater, in the heart of Weimar's beautiful Altstadt. Productions are directed by General Director and international bass-baritone Damon Nestor Ploumis.

Our comprehensive training program is designed for emerging professional singers considering a career in Europe, with a focus on the German theater system.

We offer intensive training in singing, movement, rehearsal process and role study, master classes, individual lessons, and stagecraft instruction, as well as daily German language instruction and diction coaching. You'll benefit from sessions in audition techniques, résumé building and career management, and will be able to audition for German state agents. You’ll sing a role in a fully staged opera, build the skills you need to audition successfully, and learn what it takes to have a career as a singer in Germany.

Our international faculty are leading artists and pedagogues with active careers in leading theaters across Europe and offer instruction in every facet of the art and business of opera. You’ll learn and grow in a friendly, supportive atmosphere, make invaluable professional connections, and build lasting friendships with colleagues from around the world.

Housing as well as breakfast five days per week and hot lunch three days per week are also included.

Since the Studio’s founding in 2008, many of our alumni have secured professional engagements in such theaters as the Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Semper Oper Dresden, Glyndebourne, Wiener Staatsoper, and other professional theaters throughout Germany and Europe.
