Opera Saratoga 2019: Deadline extended to 9/20 due to storms

Due to significant weather issues on the mid-atlantic coast over the past week, Opera Saratoga has extended its application deadline until Thursday September 20th to ensure that all who are interested in applying for the program have been able to submit their materials. Any artist who is displaced due to the storms and is unable to to submit their materials this week may contact Laurie Rogers at lrogers@operasaratoga.org after they are able to safely return home.

Opera Saratoga's 2019 Young Artist Program and Summer Festival features three operas: LA FILLE DU RÉGIMENT (Donizetti/Vernoy de St.Georges & Bayard); HÄNSEL UND GRETEL (Humperdinck/Wette) and the World Premiere of ELLEN WEST (Ricky Ian Gordon/Frank Bidart). Principal, supporting and cover role assignments are available for singers, along with opportunities for pianists/coaches, conductors and directors. Artists receive professional development opportunities throughout the summer, and will be featured in a variety of concerts and masterclasses.

Auditions in NYC, Houston and Cincinnati.

2019 SEASON INFORMATION

The Young Artist Program at Opera Saratoga has historically included two "levels" of artists: Studio Artists and Apprentice Artists. While Opera Saratoga will continue to accept emerging artists of varying levels of experience into the program, all artists will now be designed "Festival Artists."  Festival Artists will all receive the same base weekly stipend, plus housing and a travel allowance. Each Festival Artist will also receive a modest supplemental stipend for each role they are assigned to sing and/or cover. In this way, artist compensation will now be determined based on the scope of assignments during the festival, rather than by the age of the artist, or by designation of "type" of artist. In addition, in 2019 we are adjusting the structure of the program to ensure that members of the Young Artist Program are able to receive more coaching and professional development opportunities than have been possible in the past.

Three MainStage productions will be presented during the summer of 2019:

LA FILLE DU RÉGIMENT: Lawrence Edelson - Director/Choreographer; Conductor - Andrew Bisantz
