Formerly the Young Artists Academy, the Lyrique en Mer Opera Studio now offers an immersive French repertoire experience, focused on in-depth role preparation alongside a professional artistic team. The Opera Studio provides structured, one-on-one mentorship and professional stage engagements, supporting young artists in the transition from training to professional careers. This program enables young artists to collaborate with renowned professionals and gain valuable stage experience in a supportive environment.


Participants engage in various enriching activities, including:

  • L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES Maurice Ravel
    Didier Puntos’ chamber arrangement, performed in over 400 productions around Europe.
    A double-bill with Georges Bizet’s Don Procopio performed by the companies Les Variétés Lyriques, La Cappella Forensis and La Reine de Cœur.
  • SACRÉ MOZART ! an evening of sacred works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as professional section leaders Ave Verum – Laudate Dominum – Requiem
  • Venez Chanter ! : West Side Story: a community choir event celebrating the music from Leonard Bernstein’s timeless musical.
  • Apéros Lyriques (Lyric cocktails)  Put your French répertoire study to practice for  French audiences.
  • Masterclasses resident artists share advice on aria interpretation, character study, vocal techinique and much more
  • Workshop Talks: open discussions exploring performance traditions and the place of art in the modern world.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE

For over 20 years, the Young Artists Program has trained talents now performing on prestigious stages such as the Paris Opera, Berlin State Opera, Covent Garden, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Metropolitan Opera. Others have pursued studies at renowned institutions like Indiana University, the Manhattan School of Music, and McGill University. Alumni have also distinguished themselves in international competitions, such as the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions, reflecting the program's ongoing success.
 
ELIGIBILITY

Participation is open to students of opera singing. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to opera and a strong desire to develop their skills in an intensive festival setting. Professional-level preparation is expected, all music should be memorized on arrival.


COST AND SUPPORT
€1,200* covers all costs related to participation in the program. This amount includes the general participation fee, a contribution toward housing, as well as access to private voice lessons, individual coaching in diction and repertoire, and masterclasses led by invited professional artists.


COSTS COVERED by Lyrique en Mer:
- Ferry crossing from Quiberon to Le Palais.
- Shared accommodation on Belle-Île.
- 500 euros net pay for section leader work in choir concerts
- Participation in masterclasses
- Weekly per diem for personal expenses.


REMAINING COSTS: Participants are responsible for their transportation to Quiberon. 

HOW TO APPLY
Applicants must submit the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): An updated résumé highlighting your musical and academic achievements.
  • Video Recordings: One recent video of an aria of your choice, and video(s) of all required excerpt(s) from L’Enfant et les Sortilèges for desired role(s) (see attached list in the flyer on the website).
  • Personal statement video: A video explaining what you hope to gain from the program and how you can contribute to the festival.
  • A letter of recommendation from a voice professor or vocal coach.
