dell'Arte Opera Ensemble: FREE Application deadline 11/21!

FREE Application deadline is November 21, 2021. First round via video submission, and callbacks live in NYC in November and December by appointment, or arranged remotely via Zoom. Nearly all roles are available in all fachs and we seek a diverse cast of singers for a repertory festival (August, 2022) with multiple performances of each of three operas (Juana, by Carla Lucero; Pelleas et Melisande by Debussy; and Il Ritorno d'Ulisse by Monteverdi). Modest stipends from $500 - 1500.

dell'Arte goes beyond the model of most summer programs, where singers are expected to arrive self-prepared and ready to go. New York area singers are particularly welcome to apply, as they can take the greatest advantage of development programming in the spring. From April to June, singers are invited to improve and engage their role-study process in direct contact with their role assigment. Language seminars emphasize lyric diction, translation and syntax skills to help the performer get inside the libretto. Chuck Hudson leads "Movement & Acting Skills for Singers" (15 hours) to develop a physical vocabulary for expression. Baroque Style class provides skills for effective and informed performance choices. Individual coachings bring all the skills together into a comprehensive approach to the role. Super-charge your process for more efficient, engaged, and expressive work you can bring to the rehearsal room and to the stage!

When DELL'ARTE OPERA ENSEMBLE hears a singer with potential, but who isn't quite "ready," they empower her to improve, to be a better musician, and, ultimately, be ready for the professional operatic stage. Because of dell'Arte Opera Ensemble, I now possess the tools to thoroughly learn and prepare major operatic roles. I know what it means now to be prepared for a coaching, a staging, or a sitzprobe. I have learned that performing opera is not just about the voice, but is also about the text and the drama. My performance in auditions has improved significantly and my resume is now longer because of it. DELL'ARTE OPERA ENSEMBLE took a chance on me, and I'm so glad they did.
