ABOUT CHICAGO SUMMER OPERA
Chicago Summer Opera is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing world-class training and meaningful performance opportunities to emerging artists while presenting accessible, high-quality opera to our community.
Our program emphasizes complete role preparation, vocal technique, musical and dramatic development, audition preparation, and stagecraft. Each singer is cast in either a full role or a cover role, with productions fully staged and performed with orchestra. Cover artists also receive the unique opportunity to perform a dedicated fully staged cover run with piano.
This combination of intensive training and real performance experience allows developing singers to make significant artistic growth in a concentrated period while preparing complete roles for their repertoire.

Over the past decade, Chicago Summer Opera has welcomed an extraordinary roster of internationally recognized singers, teachers, conductors, directors, coaches, and guest master class artists.
Our faculty and guest artists have included Alexandra LoBianco, Allan Glassman, Elizabeth Byrne, Nicole Cabell, Norman Reinhardt, Soula Parassidis, Viktoria Vizin, Jeff Mattsey, Quinn Kelsey, Susanna Phillips, Andrew Owens, John DeMain, Adriano Spampanato, Codrut Birsan, Michael Ehrman, Julia Faulkner, Amy Hutchison, Mark Ross Clark, Josh Miller, Margaret Jumonville, Marinette Gomez, Andreas Mitisek, Matthew Ozawa, Philip Pierce, W. Stephen Smith, Michael Sylvester, Yasuko Oura, Steven Mosteller, Francesco Milioto, Sunny Joy Langton, and Pedro Yanez.
Their experience spans many of the world’s leading opera houses, orchestras, conservatories, and young artist programs, bringing professional-level mentorship directly to CSO participants.
