Applications for Reneé Fleming's SongStudio are now open! Next January, join the renowned soprano for a free weeklong workshop for young vocalists and collaborative pianists ages 18–35. Designed to renew and refresh the presentation of the vocal recital, SongStudio offers unparalleled mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Timeline:

  • October 1, 2021: Application deadline
  • October 8, 2021: Recommendation deadline
  • October 24, 2021: Candidates notified of the status of their application
  • January 17–22, 2022: Program duration

SongStudio is free for all participants, and shared hotel accommodations are provided. Travel expenses of up to $600 are available to participants from outside the New York City area. This year, SongStudio is limited to people who are currently residing in the United States. All workshops will be held in accordance with New York State health guidelines.

Please note that you may apply as an individual vocalist or collaborative pianist, or as a duo (vocalist and pianist) that wishes to attend SongStudio together. If you are invited on the basis of an individual application, you will participate throughout the week with a partner selected by SongStudio’s artistic leadership. Please be aware that we may also choose to invite artists who apply as a duo on an individual basis.

“I want to encourage singers to be intellectually curious and adventurous in their approach to song repertoire; to think outside the box in their choice of repertoire, including music beyond the standard classical literature; and to experiment with new elements.” –  Renée Fleming
