Under the baton of Music Director Michael Stanley, the Burbank Philharmonic is rapidly becoming one of Los Angeles’ finest professional symphony orchestras with a reputation for excellence in performance coupled with diverse and adventurous programming.  Recent concerts have featured such notable vocal repertoire as Mahler’s Rückert Lieder and Zerbinetta’s aria from Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, all performed by winners of the Hennings-Fischer Young Artist Competition.

Recent winners have raved about the experience of both the auditions and the performance.  Here’s what they have to say:

“Participating in the Hennings-Fischer competition was truly a steppingstone in my performance mentality and career. The feedback from the first round catalyzed my singing to enter the next level in the final round, with the intensity and energy to captivate the audience and convey the intended musicality and dramatic interpretation.

Rehearsing with Maestro Stanley and the Burbank Philharmonic was exciting and rewarding, as I felt a synergy between the orchestral instruments and voice to truly convey Richard Strauss’ magnificent orchestration and tone colors [in Zerbinetta’s aria]. I absolutely felt this experience augmented my ability to communicate with orchestra and audience, and project both my voice and the character to my highest potential.”
