'RECITAL' PATHWAY: 22 JUNE — 14 JULY 2027
'ON STAGE' PATHWAY (PARTICIPATION IN A PRODUCTION): 7 JUNE — 14 JULY 2027
For nearly 30 years, the Académie du Festival d'Aix has been committed to serving as a foundation for a new generation of artists, creating inspiring residency programmes that blend tradition and innovation. Lyric art, the origin of opera, is one of its distinctive features. The Academy provides a space for work and career development for international artists, facilitating encounters with renowned vocal coaches.
This year, the 'Résidence Voix' programme is strengthening its support for early-career singers and young artists by offering two pathways designed to enhance both stage and recital practice for singers, pianists and vocal coaches:
The Residency will also feature a series of activities, including participation in musical events organised in collaboration with the Festival's Passerelles programme.
The educational focus will be reinforced by workshops on career management, artists' rights, physical wellbeing and mental preparation — activities that, beyond professional practice, are designed to help artists prepare to take to the stage in the best possible condition.
MENTORING ARTISTS
Darrell Babidge, professor of singing and Chair of voice at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, will oversee this residency for the fifth consecutive year, offering the artists his guidance, expertise and warmth.
Marine Thoreau La Salle, a pianist and vocal coach trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, is now an accompanist for numerous productions in France and abroad. She is also Head of Musical Studies and a coach at the Académie de l'Opéra-Comique.
