SEASON 2021-22  Join a prestigious and highly professional apprentice artists program! The company provides many performing opportunities throughout its fall and winter seasons. The training aspect of the program focuses on encouraging singers to give impassioned performances through vocal expression with an understanding of the meaning of the text, the poetry, and the music. In private coachings and classes, acting is approached through an efficiency of movement that brings out the meaning of the work rather than obscuring it. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 1.

August 26 is the deadline for applications for Wolf Trap Opera's 2022 Season! Filene Artists sing our principal roles: Studio Artists have comprimario, covering and chorus opportunities. Coaching and Directing Fellows assist in the rehearsal room. More information about our program, including which tier is best for you, can be found on our website. Auditions will be held in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Cincinnati, and at Wolf Trap in the DC suburbs.

Come join us at the 29th annual American Traditions Vocal Competition, or ATC, for short.  Our competition is unlike any other, bringing great singers from diverse musical backgrounds together to celebrate American song.  Each singer must program nine different songs, representing nine different genres to create their program.  Singers come from classical, theatre, jazz, country, pop and gospel backgrounds and each singer showcases a wide variety of musical styles.   Many singers who participate reflect that they found their "people" - other, likeminded music enthusiasts, who are not bound by musical genre.  We are more than a competition, we are a musical experience.  Apply today and find out!  email: director@atcsavannah.org  $35,000+  18+

DEADLINE JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY! The JTVA Elizabeth Greenfield Award is a $5,000 grant which honors a trailblazing Black singer by recognizing an outstanding present-day Black singer who is in the early stages of pursuing a professional career. It provides meaningful financial assistance to encourage and further advance the career development of a promising Black vocal artist. Applications will be accepted only until August 13, 2021.

The Loyola Dramatic Voice Symposium brings together world-renowned artists and teachers in the field of opera to present master classes and lectures for young dramatic singers and for teachers of voice. Full registration includes two days of professional development culminating in a final performance of the guest artists. Anyone can attend, but masterclass participants must submit audition materials by August 5th. At the end of the symposium, the guest artists will confer and award two $1000 Encouragement awards. The award recipients will also perform on the September 18th Opera Gala with the guest artists. 

The New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD Television) “International Chinese Vocal Competition” is one in a series of international cultural and arts events sponsored by NTD Television. The aim of this competition is to promote traditional vocal arts of pure authenticity, pure goodness, and pure beauty, and provide a world arena for all Chinese vocalists to showcase their talents. The Competition will be hosted by NTD Television.  The final round of the Competition will be broadcast through live stream video on NTD’s social media platforms. It will also be broadcast on NTD’s TV network. Deadline to apply: September 23.

NEW BULGARIAN UNIVERSITY presents: XXI International Masterclass of RAINA KABAIVANSKA. 6 September - 1 October, 2021. Sofia Opera and Ballet House. The 2021 Kirov International Music Festival Bel Canto Program offers rigorous audition and competition preparation for vocalists looking to advance their career and studies. Led by the legendary pedagogue Vera Danchenko-Stern and a faculty of 14 career opera singers associated with opera companies such as Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, San Fransisco Opera, Washington National Opera and others, the Bel Canto program is designed to offer comprehensive review of vocal technique and proper career guidance. All students will take daily diction courses in German, Russian, and Italian, and will receive two lessons per week with the faculty of their choice. (Note: KIMF Bel Canto will operate entirely as a virtual program in 2021).

Boston University Opera Institute: Audition for Baritones only. To be eligible for Opera Institute training, singers must demonstrate a readiness that is potentially two years from career entry. Such readiness includes an unusual voice of a timbre and appropriate size for opera; a high level of preparedness in terms of artistry, musical style, and vocal technique; an individual articulation of the need for our particular program; and an attitude of professionalism, humility, and willingness to learn.
