The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world, and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $22,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years – must be born after Jan. 1, 1979. Open to singers who are early in their oratorio career.

To be eligible for the Boston Conservatory Opera Intensive at Valencia, you must be a singer who is currently an undergraduate student or who has recently completed your undergraduate study. It is not necessary to have studied voice or opera as an undergraduate, but you should be serious about opera study and have at least three arias, prepared in the original languages, in your repertoire. Mikael Eliasen Voice Program at Curtis Summerfest; June 16–29, 2019; Discover what it takes to embark on an opera career. Led by the long-time artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre, Mikael Eliasen, this program is designed primarily for high school and undergraduate singers who are considering entering conservatory. Study privately with faculty of the renowned vocal studies department at the Curtis Institute of Music, and delve more deeply into your existing repertoire, with the space and time to follow your curiosity. This four-week intensive opera program for the collegiate, pre-professional singer (18 years and older) combines language and musical study with Italian cultural immersion. Program participants work closely with a faculty of internationally distinguished artists, teachers, coaches, conductors, and stage directors. You will develop your singing-acting craft, musical interpretation, and artistry—all in the heart of Tuscany. Summer and Youth Summer Program: June 24-July 20, 2019. Singers and pianists in residence in Florence, Italy; the opportunity to immerse oneself in study of Bel Canto, a style of singing/playing rich in vocal and orchestral traditions handed down from generation to generation. Participants study with internationally renowned faculty who perform, teach, and coach at the leading opera houses of the world. Bel Canto Institute features two tracks: Youth Division Summer Program (ages 15-17) and the Summer Program (ages 18+). Performance awards granted.
