Orpheus Vocal Competition 2020: Deadline 12/1!

The Orpheus Vocal Competition will be held March 6-8, 2020 on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  The Application Deadline is December 1, 2019. Apply Now. This year the Society will be awarding a $3,000 grand prize for the Student winner and $5,000 for the Young Artist winner.  Additional prizes will be awarded by individuals and corporations. In addition, 1st and 2nd place winners in the High School division will also receive cash awards.  There are 3 categories in Orpheus: • Young Artist for ages 25-30 • Student for ages 19-24 • High School students grades 10-12 Orpheus is the only competition of its kind in the south central United States. http://orpheusvocal.com/

The Toronto Summer Music Academy is a one-of-a-kind educational opportunity for chamber musicians and singers 18-35 years old, on the threshold of a professional career. Academy Fellows attend the TSM Academy on full scholarship covering tuition, studying and performing with international guest artists in various concerts throughout the Festival. Fellows are billeted with Toronto Summer Music supporters, eat lunch together daily, and are guests at all Festival concerts.

Deadlines approaching: The Ohio Light Opera 2020

For over 40 seasons, The Ohio Light Opera has dedicated itself to the exploration and production of the best of traditional operetta and musical theater. This includes the complete Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire, as well as the recognized treasures from the Viennese, French, Hungarian, German, and American repertoire. The 40 performing artists who make up the vocal ensemble are chosen for their abilities to perform and work at the highest level in all disciplines demanded by the company’s specialized repertoire. Application deadlines for singers for the 2020 Festival Season are approaching quickly. Deadlines vary by audition location with deadlines for major cities like New York and Chicago coming quickly.

The Saengerbund Awards seek to support rising professional artists and to encourage the study and performance of German vocal repertoire. Pittsburgh Festival Opera 2020: now tuition-free + stipend and housing!

Applications for Pittsburgh Festival Opera's newly restructured Young Artists Program are now OPEN! The Young Artists Program is no longer a tuition-based program. Instead, singers are selected through national auditions to be invited to participate in the Pittsburgh Festival Opera summer season and paid a stipend and provided housing for the festival’s duration. The variety of nurturing experiences, an intensified performance period, and exposure to professional artists in the field allows YAPs to focus on education through performance. Young Artists will perform and cover appropriate roles in all mainstage productions.
