Ten years of in-person training has prepared the Druid City Opera Workshop faculty exceptionally well for an exciting virtual learning and performance experience. Join us, May 16-21 on Zoom, for a week of singing and sharing and expanding your network. The week will include classes in acting, movement, yoga, improvisation, and the business of singing, in addition to one-on-one virtual dramatic and musical coachings. The experience will end with an online aria concert - open to all - on Friday evening, May 21.
DEADLINE JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY! The 8th annual JTVA Vocal Competition is moving online this year! We welcome exceptional singers in genres from opera, oratorio and art songs, to jazz, musical theater and cabaret standards. There are no specific age, education or residency requirements. Two levels of competition based on vocal experience are offered and ALL finalists receive a cash award. Awards total $50,000, as well as soloist performance opportunities with the Oakland Symphony and a music festival in Provence, France. Applications will be accepted only until February 13, 2021.
The Dutch National Opera Academy is a two-year master program for highly talented young opera singers focusing on the integration of singing and acting. DNOA graduates receive a Master of Music diploma and are thoroughly trained to be creative singing actors who are fully committed in their work and preparation for the many challenges of the professional field. DNOA is a partnership of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Juilliard's Mary Birnbaum offers an online class for Opera and Musical Theater professionals who want to transcend technique and re-ignite their sense of play while singing. Utilizing various aspects of the movement pedagogy developed by French physical theater master Jacques Lecoq this affordable workshop is designed especially for the virtual classroom in conjunction with New York's Movement Theater Studio. Sessions begin February 27th.
Aquilon Music Festival, located in picturesque Oregon wine country, is now accepting applications for the 2021 season. Aquilon will pre-premiere OURLAND, a new opera composed by Paul Davies with libretto by Daniel Helfgot. Set in a dystopian state, the plot centers on intolerance towards the ‘other’, the foreigner, the different, and minorities. It outlines the life and death consequences of bigotry and xenophobia.
