The 2021 Kirov International Music Festival Bel Canto Program offers rigorous audition and competition preparation for vocalists looking to advance their career and studies. Led by the legendary pedagogue Vera Danchenko-Stern and a faculty of 14 career opera singers associated with opera companies such as Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, San Fransisco Opera, Washington National Opera and others, the Bel Canto program is designed to offer comprehensive review of vocal technique and proper career guidance. All students will take daily diction courses in German, Russian, and Italian, and will receive two lessons per week with the faculty of their choice. (Note: KIMF Bel Canto will operate entirely as a virtual program in 2021).
Boston University Opera Institute: Audition for Baritones only. To be eligible for Opera Institute training, singers must demonstrate a readiness that is potentially two years from career entry. Such readiness includes an unusual voice of a timbre and appropriate size for opera; a high level of preparedness in terms of artistry, musical style, and vocal technique; an individual articulation of the need for our particular program; and an attitude of professionalism, humility, and willingness to learn. Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival is casting roles for a one-week Washington, D.C. Residency in June 2021. Miami Classical Music Festival is happy to announce that we have developed a hybrid festival that includes both Virtual and In-person opportunities for this summer, 2021. The festival will consist of a 2-week virtual session and 2 week in-person session in Miami Beach. Participants in the virtual session will study with our faculty and prepare for their upcoming roles and the in-person session will be a rehearsal intensive to produce and perform our opera productions. The Jacques Offenbach Grand Prix is a new vocal & role competition organized by the Festival Gegen den Strom in Germany. The 2021 Grand Prix will take place online due to the pandemic. The Jacques Offenbach Grand Prix offers money prizes and, most importantly, future job opportunities within the festival- including performances in the historical "Marmorsal" in Bad Ems- as well as in other international forums the members of the panel represent. To apply, participants need to send only 1 video of an aria of their choice. Then, they'll have 2 weeks time in between rounds to send their videos. The repertoire varies between rounds.
