New York Dramatic Voices is excited to announce our 2022 Winter Intensive. Each artist will work one-on-one with Jane Eaglen (Metropolitan Opera), Ken Benson (Ken Benson Artists), Anthony Laciura (Metropolitan Opera, HBO, Netflix), Matthew Lobaugh (Washington National Opera, LA Opera), and Christin Byrdsong (Amazon); culminating in a staged public performance in the heart of Manhattan. This Winter's repertoire will be Götterdämmerung Prelude (entire role for each Norn), La Gioconda Act 2, and Il Trovatore Act 4. America’s premier performing arts festival is auditioning vocal fellows for its 2022 season in Charleston, South Carolina. More than 50 singers will be hired to serve as the chorus for the Festival’s mainstage operas—including a Puccini classic and the world premiere of Omar by Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels, cover large and small roles, perform major choral works, and take part in special projects, such as contemporary chamber music concerts. Vocal fellows will receive $600/week in addition to housing and a travel stipend. Productions this season call for diverse choir members including a specific need for Black vocalists for the world premiere of Omar.

The Century Opera Competition is established in 2021, our aims to promote classical music by providing young singers from various countries opportunities to study with internationally renowned artists, educators and performers in its short-term intensive programs, including individual coachings, lessons, seminars, and masterclasses that give participants hands-on experience with some of today's leading masters and advance one’s performance to the next level; and by hosting competitions and concerts to discover talents and offer young musicians showcasing opportunities at world-class performance venues, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, DiMenna Center, Liederkranz Club, National Opera Center, and Steinway Hall, while enjoying New York City.
Only a few days left to apply for the Mascarade Emerging Artists programme in Florence, run in collaboration with Teatro La Fenice in Venice, for exceptionally talented young singers and répétiteurs. Training provision is carefully structured around performance opportunities, including main stage roles and covers at Teatro La Fenice. Through the programme's collaboration with one of Italy’s major operatic houses, artists enjoy the unique prospect of translating what they have learnt into professional practice on stage. Places on the programme are entirely funded with artists receiving tuition, maintenance and accommodation grants equivalent to entry-level salaried positions in the industry.
