Classic Lyric Arts 2022: deadline 1/15!

Classic Lyric Arts offers three immersive summer training programs for classical singers and collaborative pianists. We instruct, mentor, and support an emerging generation of artists to discover the essence of opera and song through the prism of language, history, and culture. CLA France: June 6-23: Périgord, France. Discover the beauty and nuance of French opera and mélodie in southern France. CLA Berkshires: June 27-July 11: Great Barrington, Massachusetts (US). Explore the brilliance of Mozart's Italian operatic masterpieces surrounded by the majestic Berkshire mountains. CLA Italy: July 25-August 12: Novafeltria, Italy. Master the traditions and techniques of bel canto singing through the music of the Italian language and the culture of Italy. Apply by January 15, 2022.

2022 Lotte Lenya Competition: Application Deadline Extended

In order to ensure that as many contestants as possible can safely prepare for and participate in this year's contest, the application deadline for the 2022 Lenya Competition preliminary auditions has been extended to Wednesday, 2 February. Competition guidelines otherwise remain unchanged. Contestants may still use pre-recorded accompaniment in their preliminary audition videos if COVID mandates. Adjustments to the dates and format of the semifinal round are also under consideration. The Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition solocomp.org Application deadline February 1, 2022, Fee $30; Late applications by February 15, 2022, Fee $50. Semifinals April 2, 2022, NYC; Finals Concert April 9, 2022 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 1977, the Oratorio Society of New York inaugurated an annual Solo Competition designed to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give talented young singers an opportunity to advance their careers. The Competition has become international in scope and well-known in the music world, and is the only major competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing. $22,000 in cash prizes. Age Limit 40 years - must be born after Jan. 1, 1982. Open to singers who are early in their oratorio career.

Resident Artist Program: Michigan Opera Theatre, under the leadership of Wayne Brown, CEO; Yuval Sharon, Artistic Director; and Christine Goerke, Associate Artistic Director, engages artists of national and international stature for stellar performances. The MOT Resident Artist has experience and training, an understanding of dramatic intent, and outstanding musical and vocal talent. Chicago Summer Opera 2022:  Recorded Audition Deadline Tomorrow!

Spend the summer in Chicago and perform a role in one of our operas! Recording deadline TOMORROW January 5! Chicago Summer Opera offers training in role preparation, vocal technique, dramatic preparation, audition technique, and stage movement. Each singer either receives a full role or full cover role. Productions are staged and performed with orchestra.  2022 Season: The Magic Flute, Mozart; Acis & Galatea, Handel; Cendrillon, Massenet; Così fan tutte, Mozart; L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi; The Tender Land, Copland. Tuition: $2,850 per session. *Over $94,000 in scholarship was given for the 2021 season.  *NEW FOR 2022* Media Package: Every singer performing in the opera will receive professional pictures and recording for the performance or dress rehearsal at no extra charge.

The 55th International Vocal Competition Opera | Oratorio: apply now!

The 55th International Vocal Competition Opera | Oratorio is held 23 June – 2 July 2022 in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Singers wishing to apply must take part in Preliminary Selections via YouTube or audition live in Amsterdam, Monte-Carlo, Łódź (Poland) or 's-Hertogenbosch. The jury panel consists of Deborah Polaski (soprano), Vesselina Kasarova (mezzo-soprano), Javier Menéndez (Teatro de la Maestranza Seville) and Damià Carbonell Nicolau (Dutch National Opera). More names to be announced. The total prize money amounts to € 38,000. Special prizes for performance of repertoire by Richard Wagner and for young talent under the age of 25. The Finale is held on 2nd July with the South Netherlands Philharmonic conducted by Hartmut Haenchen. Prize money: more than € 15,000 plus engagements. Masterclasses, jury feedback, travel refund possible for finalists, accommodation at host families. All rounds open to the public. Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston's Vocal Career Grant Competition: apply by 12/22!

Over $5,000 in grants will be awarded in the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston's Vocal Career Grant Competition. Ten finalists will compete live in Houston on January 29, 2022.
