ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT to apply for the opportunity to join Teatro Nuovo's 2023 Young Artist Program. Applications are accepted through Wednesday, 14th September with auditions in NYC, LA and Chicago. Teatro Nuovo's Resident and Studio programs are paid opportunities, which include performances in and around New York City, anchored by an innovative training program designed to provide opportunities and information not generally available elsewhere. The training program focuses on a small group of core bel canto skills, to help you assess and raise your current level in each. The program includes the collaboration of a period-instrument orchestra and in-depth seminars and lessons in historical performance practice and ornamentation.

Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces Second Annual National Competition! SVA’s second annual High School Nationals will take place from June 2-4, 2023 in partnership with Sarasota Opera. Competitors will sing on the stage of the William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre and compete for generous cash awards: First Place ($10,000), Second Place ($7,500), Third Place ($5,000), and Finalist ($650). We're excited to announce auditions for our 2023 Festival Season Gerdine Young Artist Program! With four new productions, young artists will get the opportunity to cover all mainstage roles, sing supporting roles, and sing in the choruses of mainstage productions. One-on-one coachings, master classes, industry auditions, and community performances round out a fantastic and fulfilling young artist festival season! Live auditions will take place in Los Angeles, Houston, Cincinnati, Atlanta, New York City, Miami, and Saint Louis. Application deadline: Friday, September 9, 2022. Sarasota Opera SEASON 2022-23: DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Deadline extended to August 31st! Join a prestigious and highly professional apprentice artists program! The company provides many performing opportunities throughout its fall and winter seasons. The training aspect of the program focuses on encouraging singers to give impassioned performances through vocal expression with an understanding of the meaning of the text, the poetry, and the music. In private coachings and classes, acting is approached through an efficiency of movement that brings out the meaning of the work rather than obscuring it. Applications for the Winter 2023 Apprentice Program are being accepted now through August 31st.

2022 JTVA Elizabeth Greenfield Award: Deadline approaching!

DEADLINE JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY! The JTVA Elizabeth Greenfield Award is a $5,000 grant which honors a trailblazing Black singer by recognizing an outstanding present-day Black singer who is in the early stages of pursuing a professional career. It provides meaningful financial assistance to encourage and further advance the career development of a promising Black vocal artist. Applications will be accepted only until September 6, 2022.

The Merola Opera Program, Carrie-Ann Matheson, Artistic Director and Markus Beam, General Manager, San Francisco Opera Center announce 2023 application opportunities for pianist/coaches, offering performance opportunities, holistic training, and career development, and provides a weekly allowance, round-trip transportation from residence to San Francisco, and shared-accommodation housing. For five years after leaving Merola, alumni may be eligible, with Merola's approval, to receive up to a total of $12,000 in career grants, with a maximum of $6,000 in any single year. Each year singers and pianists are chosen from the Merola Opera Program to join the prestigious Adler Fellowship Program. Submission deadline: 8/26/22

The Sullivan Foundation Awards 2022: two weeks left to apply!

The Sullivan Foundation seeks talented young professional opera singers who show promise for significant careers but who are not yet well-established solo artists. Sullivan Award winners receive initial prizes of $10,000 and then are eligible for continuing grants to learn new roles, a unique aspect of the Foundation’s commitment to early career artists. More than 1,000 singers have earned Sullivan funding since 1957. Winners call the support “life-changing.” 2022 auditions will be held in New York on November 6 and 7. Audition applications are due August 29. Learn more and apply on the Foundation's website. There are no application or audition fees.

The renowned mezzo-soprano leads a series of free workshops for young vocalists, culminating in a series of live master classes at Carnegie Hall.
