This application is for Coaching and Directing Fellows applicants only. Please review the listing requirements before submitting. You can find the applications for Studio and Filene Artists on the open applications page. Please make sure you submit the correct application.
COACHES: Be prepared to play and sing a selection from each of the categories below. Your selections must include one Italian, and one in either French or German. (Other languages allowed but not required)
- A Mozart aria or ensemble
- One accompanied recitative and a short (one-minute) secco recitative excerpt
- A 5-minute excerpt (non-aria) from a 19th-century opera
- A brief excerpt of any type from an opera written since 1940
- One other opera or musical excerpt of your choice
- Sight-reading will also be included in the audition
DIRECTORS: You will be scheduled for an interview via skype during Nov-Dec.

Due to the ongoing complications with Covid-19 and the Delta variant, we understand that not everyone feels safe to travel. Wolf Trap will be accepting a very small number of video auditions for the 2022 company. Please see the steps for a video audition below.
Step 1: Apply as you normally would, selecting “other” as your date preference. Applications are due Friday, September 3.
Step 2: Notifications of video auditions will be sent on Monday, September 13. The WTO offices will be in touch the week of October 4 to schedule online interviews (Directing Fellows) and auditions (Coaching Fellows)
Step 3: Video applicants will be notified of their status no later than Wednesday, October 27.
