The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artists Program: Musical Theater Application (2012)

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Young Artists Program at the Glimmerglass Festival.

Members of the Young Artists Program sing principal and supporting roles, cover all roles in mainstage productions (except where noted), sing in the chorus, are presented in concerts and cabarets, receive weekly coachings, participate in master classes, and perform in the community.  Young Artists will also have the privilege of working with 2012 Artist in Residence, Eric Owens.

Applicants for Glimmerglass Festival's Young Artists Program must be fully available to the company from May 29 through August 25, 2012.  Applicants must be United States citizens or have the right to work in the United States.  Non-U.S. citizens must send a photocopy of documentary proof of right to work.

Please note that the Young Artists Program has two tracks: opera and musical theater. 

This audition is for musical theater positions and applicants must have extensive dance training/experience.

Audition Repertoire

Please bring two contrasting songs.  If you have operatic training and are comfortable offering operatic repertoire, one selection may be an aria.  Please enter the name of your two selections below.

There will be an initial dance call with callbacks on each audition day in addition to a vocal audition.

* Please note that, in an effort to assess facility with dialogue, some applicants will be asked to do a cold reading as part of the audition.  This pertains to both opera and musical theater applicants. Number of selections required: 2.

Payment Details

All applications require a $25 non-refundable application fee.
Please note that should you be asked to audition in person, there will be no extra charge for the pianist provided.
