2022 Resident and Studio Artist Application

We will be holding our annual live audition tour in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In addition, a limited number of virtual auditions may be granted for applicants who are selected to receive an audition, but who are unable to travel to an audition city on the dates listed. In this instance, additional videos and/or a short interview via Zoom will be requested.

Applications must be submitted by the date posted. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Please refer to the opportunity listing page for further information prior to completing this application. In particular, we remind applicants to read carefully the audio/video requirements and be sure to submit the requested "agility sample" if your pre-recorded audio/video does not include sufficient coloratura passages.

Recordings

Please upload two recent recordings (audio or video), at least one showing sustained legato singing with long notes and at least one showing agility. If your pre-recorded selections do not include sufficient coloratura passages (see description of what we’re looking for in the opportunity listing page), please submit a third recording of excerpts or exercises, labeled with your name and "agility sample."

Note: We do not limit our acceptances to singers who "look good" on these questions—our main interest is in your voice, but we find it useful to know something about your background in other skill areas.

Audition Dates/Virtual Audition Preference

Please indicate your preferred location(s)/date(s) for a live audition or select the virtual video audition option. Teatro Nuovo will make every effort to accommodate audition date requests. When selecting a live audition date in New York City, you should plan to be available for a potential callback audition as well (we are holding callbacks on the evenings of November 13, November 21, and December 11). We will not be holding callbacks in Chicago or Los Angeles. Please note: All applicants chosen for a live audition will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and photo ID at their audition.
