This year Opera Saratoga will be auditioning singers via video submission. Audition details will be sent at the time auditions are granted. Directing Fellow candidates will be contacted for an interview in lieu of an audition; Coach/pianist and Conducting Fellow candidates will be contacted by the Head of Music Staff.

The application deadline is Sunday, September 21, 2025. No applications will be received after this deadline.

Video Submissions - Mandatory for Singers, Conductors and Pianist/Coach Applicants

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

FOR SINGERS: Opera Saratoga requires two video recordings of contrasting operatic arias made within the last 6 months as well as an additional recording of a musical theater excerpt from the Golden Age era (1940's-1960's). One of the operatic arias must be in Italian. As Opera Saratoga frequently produces 21st century repertoire, we encourage the submission of an aria that demonstrates your facility with contemporary musical idioms.

For PIANISTS: Two videos or audio mp3 files recorded within the last 12 months are mandatory. Operatic repertoire required.

For CONDUCTORS: A video of you conducting must be submitted as part of your application, preferably but not mandatory operatic repertoire, as well as a video or audio mp3 demonstrating your skills as an accompanist, recorded within the last 12 months. We give preference to Conductors with piano skills, although we have in the past hired some with little piano ability.

For DIRECTORS: No video or audio are required. Those invited for an interview will be asked to bring their portfolio with them to the interview.
