Singers: For the audition, prepare three contrasting arias from the standard repertoire. One must be in Italian and one must be in English. The third aria may be in Italian, English, German, or French.

Young Artists will be considered for the following MAINSTAGE roles: In Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love) performed in Italian Gianetta (Soprano or High Mezzo-Soprano) and Belcore (Baritone). In Rogers and Hammerstein's The King and I: Tuptim (Soprano or Mezzo-Soprano), Lun Tha (Tenor), Lady Thiang (Soprano or Mezzo-Soprano), Prince Chulalongkorn (Tenor), plus additional cameo and speaking roles. Young Artists will also cover Principal Roles. Young Artists will perform both Mozart's The Impresario (Der Schauspieldirektor) and excerpts from Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen, both sung in English and performed with chamber ensemble.

Pianists: For the audition, prepare an approximately 5 minute excerpt from an ensemble section of L'elisir d'amore. It is helpful if you can sing some of the vocal parts to give us an indication of your language skills and your understanding of vocal writing. Pianists who are comfortable sight reading may be asked to play an aria for one of the singers whose audition time is near their own.
