Video First Round Audition

The First Round of auditions for the 2024/25 programme will be by video submission. All applicants will have their videos considered by the first round audition panel. We would like to reassure every applicant that all videos submitted will be viewed in their entirety at least twice.

First round audition guidelines

You must submit two videos as part of your application. Through your submissions you should aim to show a variety of repertoire which presents vocal excellence and musical strengths. No more than two videos may be submitted.

Repertoire requirements:
• Two contrasting arias
• We advise you present two different languages
• All videos must be recorded within the last six months
• All videos must be submitted via a YouTube link - videos uploaded directly to YapTracker will not be accepted

Your two recordings must be made in an audition setting with live piano accompaniment. Recordings must be in one take and your pianist must be in shot (multiple camera angles are accepted as long as the switching between cameras was carried out live). Submissions recorded using a pre-recorded accompaniment will not be accepted.

Do not upload more than 2 videos. If you upload more than 2 videos, only the first 2 submissions will be viewed. Any additional submissions will be disregarded.

Please name all of your videos in the following format:
Aria_Opera_Composer - please do not include your name as part of the video title.

For further information, please read the National Opera Studio Video Requirements

All videos must be uploaded using a YouTube link and must meet the National Opera Studio Video Requirements. Videos uploaded to YAP Tracker do not generate view tracking increases on external sites. YAP Tracker uses a secure, encrypted firewall to protect data submissions, which disables the transfer of view tracking data. You will therefore not see views recorded on any videos you upload through YAP Tracker's application portal. Please only upload videos via YouTube. Do not upload videos via your "My Profile Menu" on YapTracker. Number of selections required: 2.

You must be signed in to add videos.

Equal Opportunities Monitoring

We are required to keep a summary of information of the diversity of our applicants. The information entered in this section will not be kept with nor will affect your application to the NOS.
The following questions are about sex and gender. We and ACE recognise that sex and gender identity are not necessarily the same thing, and in order to fully understand our audiences and applicants we're asking both questions. There is a prefer not to say option if that feels most reflective for you.
We ask about the sexual orientation of using recommended ACE options. We recognise that this list of options is not exhaustive but hope there are enough choices for everyone to feel represented.
The definitions for ethnicity are based on national standards as set out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This gives us a comparable dataset that can be mapped against other sources and population data. Latin American is not currently featured in ONS population datasets. This was added to all Arts Council ethnicity data collection, by exception, following request and consultation. When completing analysis to compare against ONS datasets, we categorise any ‘Latin American’ responses in the ‘Any other ethnic group’ category
