The Jensen Foundation supports young artists actively pursuing a career in opera. The centerpiece of The Jensen Foundation is the annual Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition in which 100 singers compete in New York City for more than $40,000 in awards. I am not a previous first-, second-, or third-place award winner of the Jensen Foundation Vocal Competiton.

I will be at least 25 years old by the first day of the competition, May 8, 2023, and I will be no older than 35 years until the competition’s end, May 14, 2023.

I will have been a permanent legal resident of the US for at least one year on the first day of the competition, May 8, 2023.

I have included proof of residency in the form of a valid US passport valid until May 14, 2023, a permanent resident (green) card in effect through May 14, 2023, or a U.S. birth certificate. I have not provided a driver's license or work visa.

I am not a past or current recipient of a contract for a principal role with an OPERA America Budget Level I company or its international equivalent. (Covers, chorus, young artist programs are allowed.)

Aria List
List the 5 arias you will be prepared to sing at the competition. Your Aria List must include Italian-, French-, German-, and English-language selections. The fifth aria may be in the language of your choice. One of your five arias must have been composed after 1980. Your arias should showcase your range of operatic work. Musical theater and oratorio are not accepted.
