Repertoire

Pianists should prepare the following for their audition:

BOTH of the following:
  • Solo piano piece, no longer than 6 minutes
  • La bohème, beginning of Act I up to Schaunard's entrance (rehearsal #10)
TWO of the following:
  • Composer's Aria, "Sein wir wieder gut," from Ariadne auf Naxos
  • The Jewel Song, beginning with "O Dieu! que de bijoux!" from Faust
  • "Winterstürme" from Die Walküre
  • Tom Rakewell's aria, "Here I Stand," from The Rake's Progress
ONE of the following:
  • Le nozze di Figaro Sextet, #19 in Act III, beginning with the recitative before
  • Don Giovanni Sextet, #19 in Act II, beginning with the recitative before
There will also be sight-reading. Auditionees should be prepared to sing and play all excerpts. You may be asked to conduct or be conducted. There will also be a short interview with the audition panel after the audition. You are required to submit your chosen solo piece and operatic excerpts on your application, but you may substitute a different piece or excerpt at your audition if you wish.
