Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Houston Grand Opera's Community and Learning programs including Opera to Go!

Auditions will be Friday, May 13, 2022 and Saturday, May 14, 2022. Both sessions will be held at the Wortham Theatre Center, 510 Preston St. Houston TX, 77002. Street parking is available at this entrance for a small fee.

We are casting our touring Opera to Go! seaon plus several workshops and new productions in the 2022-23 season, and always are interested in hearing new and familiar talent. Auditioners will be considered for upcoming productions, workshops, residencies and teaching artist opportunities.

Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go! (OTG) presents fully-staged, 45-minute operas at Houston-area schools and community centers. Complete with costumes, sets, and live piano accompaniment, these high-energy performances are designed especially for today’s student audiences.

Most rehearsals and performances will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with occasional weekend performances. Contract Dates August 31, 2022-December 16 and January 20, 2023- May 19, 2023. We are eager to cast singers that reflect the diverse communities of Houston. Day rates for this contract are $130/day

Not all applicants are guaranteed an audition and all auditions must be done live in Houston. One of your submitted audio recordings must be in English. If an audition is granted, the time slots will be self-selected by auditionee.

We will also be listening for potential singers or teaching artists for our other HGOco programing. Teaching artist work, preparation and training are all paid sessions at a range of rates.
