HGOco Auditions 2021-2022

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Houston Grand Opera's Community and Learning programs including Opera to Go! 

Auditions will be November 4, 2021 4p – 9pm and November 6 from 1-5pm.  Both sessions will be held at the Wortham Theatre Center, 510 Preston St. Houston TX, 77002. Street parking is available at this entrance for a small fee.

HGOco GENERAL AUDITIONS

We are casting several workshops and new productions in the 2021-22 season, and always are interested in hearing new and familiar talent.  Upcoming productions and workshops include:

March of 2022 (Song of Houston) Jeremy Howard Beck, Composer and Stephanie Fleischmann, Librettist. An 80 minute site specific world premiere that shares the stories of un-housed Houstonians and those who help them. Seeking an ensemble cast of 12 who reflect the rich diversity of Houston, are strong actors, and skilled with new music.

OPERA TO GO

The Barber of Seville by Giaochino Rossini - bilingual English/Spanish libretto and arangement by Katherine McIntyre (S or A, T, Br, B)

Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go! (OTG) presents fully-staged, 45-minute operas at Houston-area schools and community centers. Complete with costumes, sets, and live piano accompaniment, these high-energy performances are designed especially for today’s student audiences.

Most rehearsals and performances will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with occasional weekend performances.  Contract Dates Dec 27, 2021 through May 20. Bi-lingual English/Spanish artists are encouraged to apply. Day rates for this contract are $130/day

Not all applicants are guaranteed an audition and all auditions must be done live in Houston.  One of your submitted audio recordings must be in English. If an audition is granted, the time slots will be self-selected by auditionee.

We will also be listening for potential singers or teaching artists for our other HGOco programing. Teaching artist work, preparation and training are all paid sessions at a range of rates.
