NOTE: THIS APPLICATION IS FOR SINGERS ONLY. 

Please read the opportunity listing before completing this application.

We are working together with other young artist programs on a coordinated virtual audition process this fall. Steps are outlined below to guide your understanding of this shared audition process.

Step 1: Apply to each program as you normally would. Applications are due Monday, October 12.

Step 2: Notification of whether or not you have been selected to submit a second-round video audition will be sent by each company by Friday, November 6. This notification will contain a link to submit a new aria list.

Step 3: Submit your aria list (one list for all programs), indicating your chosen “starter” aria, by Tuesday, November 10.

Step 4: Notification of requested arias from your list (one request for all programs) will be sent on Friday, November 13.

Step 5: Record a new video audition and submit the video by Monday, November 30.

Before submitting, please check if anything may have been auto-filled incorrectly. Incorrect information submitted due to an auto-fill error may result in a voided application.

Applicants must be United States citizens or have the right to work in the United States. If applicants secure a contract, non-U.S. citizens must send a copy of right-to-work documentation. The Glimmerglass Festival is not responsible for procuring the work permissions necessary to participate in this program. Note: Canadians may gain the right to work by joining Canadian Federation of Musicians and applying for a P2 Visa. This process is completed ONLY after successfully securing a contract with The Glimmerglass Festival and will be done at your own expense).

Video Selections

Two video files are required with your application. Please submit two selections in contrasting styles and languages, made within 12 months of the application deadline. One video must be an opera aria, and the other may be opera, art song, or musical theater. Be sure to review the guidelines listed on the opportunity page.

Please verify that all video files work before submitting. Video files that do not work will result in a voided application. Number of selections required: 2.

Professional References

Please give details of three artistic authorities (directors, conductors, coaches, voice teachers) with whom you have worked and who may act as references. Only one of your referees may be a voice teacher. No written recommendations are accepted.

Preliminary audition repertoire must show a variety of styles and be offered in at least three different languages, including English. Four selections should be opera arias and the fifth selection can be another aria, musical theater, or art song. *Please note that if you are selected for a second-round audition, you will be required to submit a new aria list with the link provided at time of notification. You may amend your choices at that time from what you've submitted here. Number of selections required: 5.
