Applications are open for singers for Garsington Opera's 2026 Alvarez Emerging Artists' Programme. All applicants must be fully available for the period 06 April to 25 July 2026. All rehearsals will be based at our rehearsal Studios on site at the Wormsley Estate in Buckinghamshire. In all cases you must be available if required for weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Please note that covers will be required before these dates.

2026 Season:

Verdi, La traviata in Italian (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Louisa Muller, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Strauss, Der Rosenkavalier in German (Conductor: Finnegan Downie Dear, Director: Bruno Ravella, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Monteverdi, Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria in Italian (Conductor: Laurence Cummings, Director: John Caird, The English Concert)

Barry, The Importance of Being Earnest in English (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Jack Furness, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Most successful applicants will sing in the chorus, but applicants will also be considered for covers and small roles, which may or may not be part of a chorus contract. There is also the opportunity to take part in development events, masterclasses, recitals and other professional development activities.

Covers will perform in our OperaFirst schools' performances. Next year our OperaFirst shows will be La traviata with the Philahrmonia Orchestra, and Il ritorno d'Ulisses in patria with the English Concert.

Garsington welcomes applications from those on student visas but offers of work can only be made with the endorsement and sponsorship of your college. We are also now able to consider those who would be entering the UK on a visitor visa.

Auditions:

Auditions will be held in Autumn 2025 until all chorus slots are filled. Our London audition dates will be held on:

Friday 12 September
Tuesday 23 & Wednesday 24th September
Tuesday 30 September & Wednesday 1 October & Friday 3 October

Please apply early - we will not wait till the application deadline to start allocating auditions, so the earlier you apply the more likely you are to get a chance to sing to us!
