Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artists' Programme - Chorus/Young Artists (2025 Season)

This application closed on Friday September 6, 2024.

Applications are open for singers for Garsington Opera's 2025 Alvarez Young Artists' Programme. All applicants must be fully available for the period 1 April to 22 July 2025. 2025 will be the first season based wholly at our new rehearsal Studios on site at the Wormsley Estate in Buckinghamshire. In all cases you must be available if required for weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Please note that covers will be required before these dates.

2025 Season:

Donizetti, L'elisir d'amore in Italian (Conductor: Chloe Rooke, Director: Christopher Luscombe, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Tchaikovsky, The Queen of Spades in Russian (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Jack Furness, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Handel, Rodelinda in Italian (Conductor: Peter Whelan, Director: Ruth Knight, The English Concert)

Beethoven, Fidelio in German (Conductor: Gérard Korsten, Director: John Cox, Revival Director: Jamie Manton, The English Concert)

Most successful applicants will sing in the chorus, but applicants will also be considered for covers and small roles, which may or may not be part of a chorus contract. There is also the opportunity to take part in development performance(s), masterclasses, recitals and other enrichment activities.

The main OperaFirst show next year will be L'elisir d'amore, where covers will perform a full show with the Philharmonia Orchestra for a schools’ audience. We also hope to do a reduced Rodelinda for a primary school audience with The English Concert.

To apply for consideration for our 2025 season, please complete the form below. Questions marked with an asterisk are compulsory.

Garsington welcomes applications from those on Student Visas but offers of work can only be made with the endorsement and sponsorship of your college. We are also now able to consider those who would be entering the UK on a visitor visa.

Auditions:

Auditions will be held in Autumn 2024 until all chorus slots are filled. Our London audition dates will be held on:

16, 17 September
3, 7, 8, 21, 22 October

We will also be holding auditions in Cape Town, South Africa between 12-15 October.

Please apply early - we will not wait till the application deadline to start allocating auditions, so the earlier you apply the more likely you are to get a chance to sing to us!

Many thanks,
