Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artists' Programme - Chorus/Young Artists (2024 Season)

This application closed on Thursday August 31, 2023.

Applications are open for singers for Garsington Opera's 2024 Alvarez Young Artists' Programme. All applicants must be fully available for the period(s) 15 April - 23 July 2024 and/or 29 April - 23 July 2024. 2024 will be the first season based wholly at our new rehearsal Studios on site at the Wormsley Estate in Buckinghamshire. In all cases you must be available if required for weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Please note that covers will be required before these dates.

2024 Season:

Rameau, Platée in French (Conductor: Paul Agnew, Director: Louisa Muller, The English Concert)

Mozart, Le nozze di Figaro in Italian (Conductor: Tabita Berglund, Director: John Cox, Revival Director: Bruno Ravella, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Britten, A Midsummer Night's Dream in English (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Netia Jones, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Verdi, Un giorno di regno in Italian (Conductor: Tobias Ringborg, Director: Christopher Alden, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Most successful applicants will sing in the chorus, but applicants will also be considered for covers and small roles, which may or may not be part of a chorus contract. There is also the opportunity to take part in development performance(s), masterclasses, recitals and other enrichment activities.

The main OperaFirst show next year will be Le nozze di Figaro, where covers will perform a full show with the Philharmonia Orchestra for a schools’ audience. We also hope to do a reduced A Midsummer Night's Dream for a primary school audience with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

To apply for consideration for our 2024 season, please complete the form below. Questions marked with an asterisk are compulsory.

Please note we cannot accept applications from those on a student visa. However, we are now able to consider those who would be entering the UK on a visitor visa.

Auditions will be held in Autumn 2023 until all chorus slots are filled. Audition dates are not 100% confirmed, but are likely to be held on:
14, 18, 25 September
6, 12, 16 October

Please apply early - we will not wait till the application deadline to start allocating auditions, so the earlier you apply the more likely you are to get a chance to sing to us!

Many thanks,

Garsington Opera
