The Classical Music Institute of San Antonio’s Ascend Summer Voice Program offers singers aged 8-18. The program runs 9am-3pm Monday-Friday from June 13-25 and lunch is provided for the participants each day. Tuition for the program is $300 and scholarships are available for those with financial need.

Advanced applicants will have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one lessons with the CMI Ascend Teaching-Artists, participate in solo and ensemble performances, sit in on career discussion talks, and meet and work with a variety of internal performing artists.

Applicants with little to no musical experience a chance to develop their skills. Students with little to no musical experience will take part in group voice and piano lessons with instruction focusing on learning to read musical notes, rhythms, and harmony.

Video

We encourage you to provide a video sample of your singing so we may better understand your level of vocal development. This can be as simple as singing the "Happy Birthday" or "My Country 'Tis of Thee" acapella. Maximum number of selections permitted: 1

Applicants who wish to have more advanced instruction, please submit two videos of contrasting pieces. Live accompaniment is preferred, but pre-recorded tracks are accepted as well. Maximum number of selections permitted: 2

By signing this pledge, we the students agree to: Value student differences and treat others with respect. Not become involved in bullying or cyber-bullying incidents or be a bully or cyberbully. Be aware of the school’s policies and support system with regard to bullying/cyber-bullying. Report honestly and immediately all incidents of bullying/cyber-bullying to a faculty member. Be alert in places around the school where there is less adult supervision such as bathrooms, corridors, and stairwells. Support students who have been or are subjected to bullying/cyber-bullying. Talk to teachers and parents about concerns and issues regarding bullying/cyber-bullying. Provide a good role model for younger students and support them if bullying/cyber-bullying occurs.
