The Butler School of Music is proud to announce the Butler Opera International Competition. The BOI will competitively select the five gifted pre-professional singers who are ready to launch their careers in opera. The finalists will travel to the University of Texas in Austin, where they will be presented in concert with the Round Rock Symphony, conducted by Stefan Sanders.
The deadline for singers to apply is March 1st, 2019. Semi-finalists and finalists will be announced on March 30th. For the competition, finalists are expected to arrive in Austin on August 25th. Between August 25th and September 2nd, finalists will participate in masterclasses, a Q & A session with management from the Austin Opera, recital opportunities, coachings, and rehearsals. The grand concert will be held September 1st at 4 pm.
The prizes include international recognition, a professional-grade HD audio and video recording with an orchestra as well as over $15,000 in available in cash awards. We will also provide an mp3 recording.
